Creative Differences Series – a new angle on Drum & Percussion libraries. First up is HUMDRUM a Virtual Instrument for Kontakt 5.3 The HUMDRUM features character calfskin drums lovingly recorded to capture their unique, colourful personalities.
THE BENDS is the second release in the Creative Differences series, a percussion instrument library that focuses on quality, organic percussion sounds recorded and designed for the Kontakt user. Following in the footsteps of HUMDRUM it features a collection of all things metal – gongs, cymbals, gamelan, triangles, and miscellaneous household items, struck, scraped and bowed while being immersed in water.
The MKS-20 Digital Piano module is one of the most revered electric and digital piano modules ever made. The MKS-20 used a technology called SAS (Structured / Adaptive Synthesis) which was designed to emulate a real piano with a ton expressiveness per velocity. This was Roland’s answer to a piano and EP that didn’t require samples to produce the sound. As a result, this module is revered in gospel circles and still used today. They still go for $250 on eBay. The best thing about the library is that you can mix and layer sounds as you wish, which is completely impossible on the module. Now imagine adding some of the most sought after “old school” EP’s to be able to layer with the MKS-20. Imagine the Dyno of the o1w, the Power Grand, the EP’s of the TX816, Synth Brass, synths, strings, and pads to go along with it–All of which can be layered and mixed as desired. This library is designed as the all purpose performance digital piano library that you can load up and use on every gig or studio session.
ANGKLUNG is the third release in the Creative Differences series, a percussion instrument library that focuses on quality, organic percussion sounds recorded and designed for the Kontakt user. Following in the footsteps of HUMDRUM and THE BENDS and WORLDLY GOODS it features a collection of 24 tuned Bamboo Angklung. The Angklung is a musical instrument from Indonesia now popular throughout South East Asia. Made of two to four bamboo tubes attached to a bamboo frame. The tubes are carved to have a resonant pitch when struck and are often tuned to octaves. The base of the frame is held in one hand, whilst the other hand strikes the instrument. This causes a repeating note to sound.
The instrument that MODWHEEL has sampled for their Biscuit Tin Guitar library is a one off, hand crafted by Steve Roche. Steve has been making tin guitars and other odd instruments for many years for use in his soundtrack work with Plan 9 and live with the bands he performs with. This particular instrument is a 4 string fretless with open G Banjo tuning (D G B D). For sampling purposes the range of the instrument has been extended down to the E below the D of its natural range. The instrument is fitted with a pickup and was recorded both acoustically as well as through a vintage Fender Twin Reverb amp. As an acoustic instrument the Biscuit Tin Guitar has a wonderfully unique sound that is caught somewhere between a Dobro and a Banjo. The electric version can sit anywhere between clean and a tin can being dragged behind a car, depending on your taste.

REQUIEM PROFESSIONAL is the next-generation virtual choir developed for professional composers featuring 3 microphone positions (5.1 compatible), full ensemble, divisi male/female and 5 solo singers. The solo singers have four microphone positions, including a new Close Microphone. The library is based on a variety of new recording- and sampling techniques some which have never before been deployed in choral sample libraries.
