Sampled with 10 recorded velocity layers with 10 separate sustain pedal down layers and release triggered samples. The recorded piano was equipped with an advanced computer operated playback mechanism that was designed by mathematician, scientist and inventor Wayne Stahnke. The mechanism actually operates the piano keys and pedals with over 1.000 steps accuracy for inverse hammer velocity. The Stancke computer system enabled Amsterdam based sample library producer Michiel Post to capture each velocity layer for this library with absolute velocity levels. These levels guarantee a totally even response across the whole keyboard for all velocities.

SAM’s trombone trio have a wide three-octave span from C2 to C5. A solo bass trombone extends this compass down to F1, performing unlooped sustains, two types of marcato and staccato notes. The bass instrument matches the three-trombone ensemble for power and precision — my only regret is that we didn’t get two bass trombones playing in unison to make that classic ’60s big band sound!

Recorded in 96 Khz and 24 bits resolution, the signal was downsampled finally to 44.1 Khz for normal use (16 bits in the Giga version). The set also includes ready-to-play presets for Steinberg’s Halion, Logic’s EXS24 and others, including the Giga format. Smaller versions of the presets are included, too. No mastering process has been applied to the sounds, so you don’t get that over-processed sound of other sample collections.

The Persian Santur is a trapezoid shaped instrument with 72 strings and a 3 octave range. Similar types of instrument could be found all over the world; “Santoor” in India, “Yang qin” in China, “Hammered Dulcimer” in England and “Hackbräde” in Sweden. They are all slightly different in the amount of strings and the timbre but with similar constructions. We have sampled the Persian Santur with 2 types of mallets in 3 velocities, “Santur 1” (hard mallets) and “Santur 2” (soft mallets). You also get a huge set of different glisses, fx both tonal and percussive divided into 6 programs.
