The Blue Grand is the perfect piano when you want something that’s a bit more mellow, old school and ambient sound. The great instrument used for the White Grand and White Sister, a large Malmsjo Grand, a 100 year old beauty, was here used to create their more soft spoken sister. The instrument was miked up pretty closed, to remain contact with the instrument, but room mikes was used to give it a more ambient character. It was also tuned to give a bit more movement in the tone, giving it an even more old school sound. The Blue Grand is not the ultimate Grand Piano that will cover all bases, but if you need a ambient, old school instrument that still has precense, look no further!

When recording a Rhodes piano, nearly all, (or all?), instruments that has been recorded for a sampled instrument are lined. That means that you take the signal from the instrument, and feed it directly to the recording device. This means that you will get a very clean, bright signal. And that is, in itself, a good thing! The Mk I Seventy-Three has no less then 16 different velocity samples/note and this gives you the dynamic response that’s not found on any other sampled Rhodes. Add to this 16 matching release samples and you’ll have 32 samples/note!

Singularis – Old School Recording Piano. In the 50’s, the recording studios weren’t what they are today. A few microphones and few tracks on the tape machines made sessions a bit different then today’s workflow. Most of the music was recorded live with very few, if any, overdubs. This led to a way of recording that made a special sound, you can hear it on most recordings from the late 50’s through the first years of the 60’s. The Singularis is an instrument that recreates that sound. Through recording and processing, vintage analog equipment has been used to provide you with the sound of that magic era.

This sample pack contains 45 Acid Loops. The loops were created in four common minor keys, between 120-135 BPMs and range from two to 48 measures in length. This allows for the loops to glide through full filter sweeps. There are also distortion loops and loops with heavy reverb. The processing for the loops was simple yet effective; a TB303 run through a 3630 compressor (for that 90s grit). Light EQ was used for corrective purposes only. For the distortion loops, a Malekko Wolftone Sloika distortion pedal was used for clean distortion.
