Mono compatibility is a feature that guarantees there are no substantial changes to the frequency response when a multi-channel recording is converted into a single channel recording. This is done by taking the sum of all input channels’ signals. Due to the mechanical nature of recording on vinyl, it is important that your supplied audio masters comply with mono compatibility. Mono compatibility has to be taken into account throughout the recording, mixing and audio mastering stages. It can be checked by proof-listening and by a channel correlation meter. When proof-listening in single channel (MONO mode), we subjectively consider whether the recording has lost or gained any vital components of the sound, such as dynamics, volume, frequencies or even an entire instrument. Typically this is recognized most easily in the low frequencies.

This Kontakt instrument uses sounds sampled from various 80’s samplers and 80’s synths. In creating this slection of sounds I wanted to provide an instrument that will have a wide range of sounds that will hopefully come in usefull in various studio situations. Some users of Zed Volume 1 have stated it has come in very handy in some studio sessions and a sound contained has rescued a session. Over 1.5GB of samples compressed to just over a GB using NI’s compression and well over 200 presets ready for your musical productions or tweek away using the graphical user interface. The libraries of Vol1 and Vol2 do have a lower fi vibe to them due to the nature of the older samplers some of the sounds have come from. I think it is true older samplers do have a certain magic to them and vibe.

Over 1.5GB of samples compressed to just over a GB using NI’s compression and over 300 presets ready for your musical productions or tweek away using the graphical user interface. I have been a user of the FZ-1 for many years and love the way it adds ‘that something’ to anything sampled into it. The output from the samplers was connected to a series of vintage valve pre-amps before sampling for use in Kontakt. If you like sounds and drums suitable for Depeche Mode/New Wave tracks, John Foxx, old rave, 80’s disco, modern dance, abstract experimental electronica, chillout, Film score (check Replicant demo below for Blade Runner type sounds) then this collection of sounds is for you.
