A topic that’s often overlooked by novices, this will help you take more control of each element involved in your mix—from metering to plugins and everywhere in between. By the end of the course, you’ll know you’re optimizing every signal chain stage. These gain staging videos are designed for users new to the subject. Larry starts off by discussing the theory of gain staging and why it’s such a necessary aspect of music production when working in a DAW. You’ll learn specifics about making sure plugins (especially vintage ones) stay in their “sweet spot” for the best sound, along with other tips for maintaining a healthy signal level. Larry also discusses various metering options, including VU meters and peak levels, to make sure you’re keeping your levels under control at all times.
