Perhaps one of the most enigmatic musical instruments of all time, The Ondes Martenot ( literally ‘Martenot Waves’) was invented by Maurice Martenot in 1928. The original unreliable tube-based design was refined and later models remained in production until 1988. An interesting overview of the instrument can be seen on Youtube. The Ondes Martenot has been used in many film scores first dating from 1931; Odna by Shostakovich, Lawrence of Arabia (1962), Ghostbusters (1984), A Passage to India (1984), and recent films such as Amélie (2001) and recently There Will Be Blood (2007) by Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead. Ondes v2.0 features new interface graphics, but most significantly it now has phase-locked oscillator samples. In the original version of Ondes, blending the different sampled waveforms would result in a slightly phasey sound. Although quite pleasing and fat, this was not strictly realistic. Now it is possible to switch from the original version to a phase-locked sample set, which gives a very authentic single oscillator sound, very like the real Ondes Martenot.

JNO II is next generation sampled Juno 106 instrument and takes all of the original samples and features of our popular JNO I synth and expands on them by more than doubling the core library size, adding useful new features like 2 true oscillators per layer and including the same flexible new effects architecture first introduced in Forks. JNO II’s dual oscillators per layer add up to 4 simultaneous sound sources per instrument with each layer also having it’s own complete multimode filter, panning and modulation sections. The oscillator sections of each layer are identical with oscillator 1 letting you choose from over 140 waveforms, multi-sampled synth or processed sounds while oscillator 2 allows you to select from 66 waveforms and steady state sounds. This new architecture allows access to JNO II’s entire core library from a single .NKI instrument with the factory presets stored as 106 Kontakt 5 snapshots.

With this Kontakt based instrument you can program a drum kit that adjusts perfectly to any kind of music style. We can proudly say that de recording has been made with high quality mics and preamps, adding a little bit of bleeding on each track, it means that the snare, for example, not only sounds through its mic but also through the overheads for a more natural sound. We have added too a little bit of EQ and Compression to make it sound great by the first moment you hit your midi keyboard. You can add more compression if you want, or reverb, or whatever you like, we just give you the essential.
