Back to the early 80’s, the Prophet 5 and Oberheim OB series dominated the polyphonic synthesizer market. Having that in mind the Jupiter-8’s success, initiated in 1981, took every one by storm. Wafeformless has released FM Artifact, a free sample pack containing a selection of sounds which were synthesized with the FM8 synthesizer by Native Instruments.

The samples were crafted using the FM8 synthesizer, which is one of the best virtual FM synths around. You can grab it for $199 at Native Instruments. For a freeware alternative (to an extent), grab the FMMF synth by de la Mancha.

Trixer takes all 20 sounds from the original frankenmixer and slots them into your DAW ready to program. All four kits are covered: two Rock kits, a Jazz kit and an Electronic kit (our inevitable favourite here in the lab). Each kit piece was sampled multiple times because the Trixer varies its sound quite widely, and you have control over level, pan and tuning on a per-kit-piece basis.
