Others are passively sampled through some kind of analog summing buss, a console, or recorded to analog tape. These are great and cover a lot of bases formusicians. However, the vast majority of records made with real TR909 drums have processing on them, sometimes huge amounts of EQ and compression have been used on the TR909 sounds. The great thing is, even with copious amounts of processing theTR909 doesn’t lose its character, on the contrary processing can seriously enhance a TR909 in all areas, and of course make itdangerously punchy! Processing can also make the TR909 deep, moody, and oozing with vibe!

An assortment of waterfalls, streams and stormy church bells from the Austrian Alps, recorded to tape and each mapped to a different key. Some samples looped for a continuous running water effect, some duplicated with immediate and slow tape-head engaged attack and release. With 5 token presets, this isn’t designed as a synth, like Tronto for example, but as a player, with a virtual tape machine running all the time beneath the engine. You have 3 types of control (via the ‘Degrader’) over tape damage – via filter,amplitude or pitch, with a tape speed slider as well, so Boards of Canada style sounds are easily obtainable, or you can set the controls to zero to bypass the effect.
