We built the Autoharp from scratch. So, we have here a newly designed Autoharp with many new articulations and vast possibilities. It’s a perfect instrument to give your music a subtle highlighted shape. WHAT IS AN AUTOHARP? The Autoharp was invented at the end of the 19th century by Charles F. Zimmermann, a German immigrant in Philadelphia. It is a stringed instrument and, despite its name, the Autoharp is not a harp. In fact, this instrument is a chorded zither with 36 steel strings stretched over a soundbox. It has a series of chord bars that, when pushed down, mute all the strings other than those that form the desired chord. By doing so, you can easily play chords. It’s a perfect instrument to give your music a subtle highlighted shape.

Hits were sampled with fingers, a piano hammer, a metal stick, and palm of the hand. Additional sounds produced with wet fingers on the border, small screws thrown inside the goblet, and processed slowed down hits for the atmospheric pads.

Yumtone H4 is pure digital magic. This Japanese FM synthesizer called the Electone HC-4 was introduced to the market by Yamaha in 1987. It featured two 44-note keybeds, a foot pedal system, drum/rhythm machine, velocity sensitivity, 16-operator FM voices, and a variety of buttons to control volume, instrument type, auto accompaniment, and tempo. The Electone series started as organs in the late 1950s, but transitioned to digital synthesis in the 1980s with advances in integrated circuit technology. We recorded the instrument articulations in wide stereo and direct line in.
