Mechanics of Noise is a creative re-imagination of noise generators, transformers, test equipment and old modulators. We joint-ventured with swiss Film Composer and Sound Designer Urs Bollhalder to get old sounding textures out of contemporary analog synthesizers. Recorded at the highest quality, tweaking and mangling the best analog gear and digitally processing it to achieve a contemporary flavour, this sample library is perfect for media composers looking for dark, rhythmic-mechanical and cinematic textures to trigger their creativity and enrich their scores with electrical surges. These instruments will add a shine to your full orchestral arrangements, but they will come in equally handy in small group composition, where they will easily carry their own weight… Marimba and bass clarinet anyone? The instruments in the Mallets collection are recorded in the Netherlands, at the ‘Muziekcentrum voor de Omroep’, the national broadcasting center.The instruments we sampled are top class and have been used in many broadcast recordings and studio sessions for Dutch National radio and TV. Recordings were captured in a semi-close stereo configuration with Schoeps Microphones, Apogee pre-amps and converters, in a medium sized studio with high ceiling. The Impulse Response sample used in the instrument is sampled in the much-acclaimed Cinematic Concert Hall in Zlin, Czech Republic, where orchestral libraries Tutti, Vivace and Da Capo are recorded.

Midnight Grand Recorded in a spacious concert hall, this Steinway Model D Grand Piano features a layer of cotton between the hammers and strings, which imparts a delicate, cinematic sound. The felt piano sound has become a staple in every composer’s collection. While most felt pianos are uprights, recorded using their practice pedal, we’ve expanded this concept to a grand piano. After experimenting with different materials, we settled on a thin layer of cotton between the hammers and strings. This produces a richer, darker tone, and when recorded in a large concert hall, it creates a striking contrast to our other felted piano, Woodchester Piano, which was captured in a small, dry studio. Enhancing the library further, we’ve included 14 Atmosphere Layers—pads that seamlessly blend beneath the raw piano sound—along with a versatile set of controls. These elements are explored through eight carefully crafted snapshot presets, introduced in the latest update, that act as a great starting point when exploring darker music genres.
