The Gimbri is a three-stringed skin-covered bass that originated in Morocco. It is actually a lute that produces rich deep but also somewhat harsh and earthy tones through its wooden body and goat gut strings. Often compared to a bass guitar, the gimbri brings deepness into the music with its low dynamic range. The main focus was to capture different articulations of the Gimbri while keeping its organic feeling and warm sound. Traditionally played with the fingers, we recorded it muted, with a plec and through an amp to ensure a wide variety of tones. It comes with five presets, while the possibility of custom settings is kept open.
Mystery Box is a collection of cinematic sounds based on experimenting with cello and violin bows on metallic objects and broken instruments. We’ve sampled waterphones, old violins, metallic dump scrapes and other resonant objects to create a collection of eerie, subtle yet unique sounds. Hellen is a Kontakt library based on ghostly voices and creatures sounds. S+OS have teamed up with vocalist Alessandra Cognetta a.k.a. Psamathes to record a variety of vocal styles: operatic/soprano (multisampled), screams, whispers, growls, gasps, yells plus several tonal and atonal vocal layers and a variety of found sounds ranging from animal recordings to metallic friction and bowed effects. Most of them have been processed with advanced sound design techniques (spectral morph in Kyma, formant and vowel processing etc.) to create a huge variety of sounds: soprano textures and layers, demoniac screams, evocative laments and howling sounds, unsettling laughs, designed creatures effects, ethereal whisperings , elusive broken sentences, monster growls and vocalizations, hair-raising screeches and shrieks, breathing loops (tempo synched) and even syllables and phrases in a fictional language inspired to ancient Latin. All the 12 instruments in Hellen (playable and sound design) fit particularly well the horror and thriller realm; they have been conceived and developed to cover the needs of the modern composer and ambient producer, from the vocal textures evoking scenes of haunted settings, to terrifying vocal stabs to create effective jump scares and impactful vocal effects.

Vintage Horns 3, a collection of virtual instruments designed to authentically capture the sound of horn soloists and sections from the 1930s through the 1970s. This includes some of the most iconic horn styles of the era, such as the Detroit Soul Solo Bari Sax, 1970s R&B Solo Alto Sax, Grungy Rock ’N’ Roll Solo Tenor Sax, and the expressive Jazz-Fusion Flute, featuring wild flutter-tongue and “singing” articulations. Like its best-selling predecessors, Vintage Horns 3 wasn’t created to be a flawless, ultra-clean virtual instrument. Instead, our goal was to craft a collection of brass and woodwind instruments that embody the raw, organic character of horn players from the ‘30s to the ‘70s – complete with the quirks and imperfections that made their performances so memorable. This library draws inspiration from the distinctive playing styles of legendary musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Fred Wesley, Eddie Harris, Wayne Shorter, David Sanborn, and Lenny Pickett, as well as the powerhouse horn sections of Motown, Tower of Power, the J.B.’s, and the Rebirth Brass Band.
Gabrielle Flute is a true legato flute library performed by Gabrielle Davis. Recorded at Orb Studios in Austin, TX – our goal was to create a series of flute patches that could address a wide range of orchestral contexts while prioritizing responsive playability. Like all of our solo instrument releases, no keyswitches are required – just play in what you want and use the modwheel (or CC# of your choice) for dynamics. The ‘Workhorse’ patch is exactly that – a solid all-rounder that will likely suit the majority of your energetic flute-writing needs. ‘Emotional’ was performed mezzo piano – great for softer contexts. For the ‘Fat Lead’ patch, we asked Gabrielle to play with as much gusto and power as she could – resulting in an instrument that soars in the upper register with attacks that properly bite. Like with our Barker Clarinet release, we recorded a series of short and long inhales with both the player and flute in position. Great patch to help sell the performance in between phrases. With the Workhorse and Fat Lead patches, velocity 1-100 will trigger a starting sustain with progressive vibrato. Velocity 101-127 will trigger a starting sustain with a more immediate vibrato. Playing a starting sustain in the lower velocity range between 1-100 will subtly ‘soften’ the attack in the event you want a touch less bite.These two patches also include round robin attacks for the 1-100 velocity range.
