Kasey is a soft, cinematic female legato vocal library. Continuing our exploration of solo vocal legatos, we wanted to capture a timbre often heard in modern film music: delicate, ethereal, pure, and deeply expressive. Included are four vowels: Ooo, Oh, Mmm, and Ah, each performed very softly and without vibrato to create an angelic, lilting tone. Degradation engine introduces the vibrant heart of an analogue synth to the fractured forgetfulness of microcassette – and opens up a deep world in between. Degradation engine works very similarly to a regular subtractive synth – you get your filter, an ADSR, a mixer, and some handy effects. what sets it apart is its two oscillators, which each have two knobs controlling “loss”. These knobs fade between the oscillator’s raw signal and a degraded version sampled through a microcassette tape – so, with each oscillator, you can choose any point between a raw analogue waveform and total tape fragility. not only this, but each oscillator has two types of degradation, with the samples recorded both at full-speed and half-speed. full-speed has a more brittle sound whereas half-speed is warmer and rounder – and again, you can go anywhere between these two extremes and bearing in mind that there are two waveforms per oscillator, it gets very deep very quickly…

Solos of the Sea – Solo Violin B is a very simple solo legato instrument. This library explores a fairly specific sound: a loud, ff-esque dynamic with heavily slurred legatos. You can trigger even more dramatic portamento legatos by playing hard velocities on certain idiomatic intervals. In addition, this release also has same-note bow-change repetition samples which can be triggered by repeating notes with the sustain pedal pressed down. The library continues along the lines of the unfolding Con Moto series with ‘active-bow’ sustains and legatos recorded con moto (with motion). The latter is here expanded upon with a ‘pitch-memory’ adaptation, which helps minimize a musician’s susceptibility to timbral variation between sustain and shorter legato assets.
