M10 I, part of the Carbon series of Kontakt 5 formatted vintage synthesizer instruments features 741MB of 24-bit samples from the Korg MS-10 analog mono-synth organized into 31 NKI based presets. Little brother to the famous and now reissued MS-20, the single oscillator MS-10’s cheaper price provided many budding musicians an achievable entry into analog synthesis during it’s day. Don’t let it’s simple nature fool you though! The MS10 is a fantastic sounding synth and the unit sampled here is a particularly unruly and slightly unstable beast that often sounds like it is just on the edge of falling completely over into chaos. Deep tubby basses, ambient leads, resonant sweeps and distorted soundscapes are some of the kinds of sounds on offer here and in addition to the fully sampled patches, individual waveforms and noise have been included for the greatest possible flexibility.

NanoMod Hats rounds out the components of our ‘NanoMod Drumkit’ with some high-frequency fizz and clank. The eight source waves here range from typical analogue white-noise hisses through various more complex, metallic tones to a couple of low-bit-depth digital sounds – for when you want a more realistic hats track which still retains a bit of vintage flavour. Tweaking the Tone control can really add some sparkle, while the Grit Filter at its higher cutoff settings dials in attitude without killing the edge. Classic GameBoy Emulation

GoodBoy is a recreation of the sounds of Nintendo Gameboys and homebrew cartridges like LSDJ, for Kontakt, based on samples from an actual Game Boy. The Game Boy has been driven by an ArduinoBoy using a Little Sound DJ (LSDJ) cartridge. The original Gameboy features 2 channels with Pulse Waves (usually called PU1 and PU2), a “Wav” channel (that can, of course, reproduce samples) and a “Noise” channel that outputs…noise. GoodBoy features both PU1 and PU2 channels. The original Pulses have been recorded note by note and looped for continuous play. Also, all 4 Pulsewidth variations of the PU1 and PU2 channel have been recorded. GoodBoy has additional features, such as Octave selector for PU2, Filters (HP and LP), Filter LFO. GoodBoy also features an Arpegggiator and a Chord, Reverb and a Randomize button.

Sawmill is an instrument inspired by the supersaw sound. In a broad sense, it doesn’t try to emulate the classic supersaw sound but I think it’s interesting how layering detuned saw oscillators turns a static sound into a moving texture. I have been wondering how would it sound if you detuned other parameters, not just pitch. For example, you could also detune filters, LFO frequency, effects etc… Welcome to Sawmill, where you can detune everything, on every oscillator. There are seven oscillators and it is quite like having a stack of seven synthesizers, with controllers conveniently grouped by type. So if you want tune a filter cutoff you have a row of seven knobs to deal with. It makes it easy to experiment with oscillator layering.

The Minipoly contains amazing raw analogue and tape oscillator samples, great filters, a chord system and six effects. The TAPE SAW OSC are long sawtooth waves recorded for each key on tape of a Roland RE-301 Chorus Echo. You can hear wow and flutter and even tape dropouts – quite similar to a Mellotron. The SAW OSC, Square OSC and White Noise waves are directly recorded minimoog samples – and sound much crisper than the ‘taped’ waves. All oscillators are mono waves, but when DUAL MODE is activated (switchable LED for each OSC) a second sample is added to each note and both waves are panned hard to L-R. This will produces a strong stereo image. Mix mono and dual oscillators to control/adjust the stereo width of the sound.

Dark continues the theme of pads, but with Dark we delve into the world of dark and hard sounds. With Dark we’ve included rhythmic loops. There are 474 tempo synced rhythmic patches and 236 non RYM patches. 4846 Samples. 7.22gb in size. We tried the sounds of Pure and Dark with rhythms and thought they sounded really good, so we’ve included loops and we intend to expand on the loops to complement the pads. The trilogy of Pads, Dark and Pure and our ongoing updates, all 3 libraries will continue to grow in size, just like Pads has now grown to around 8GB in size.
