One day I took my acoustic guitar with me for a regular visit to my cottage. Also a microphone and a bottle of beer. After I picked some apples, I have made a fire and heated up, had a beer and recorded some guitar sounds together with sounds from a burning fireplace. My intention was not to record “great” guitar sound. I was hoping to make some strange, kind of unusual ethno stringed instrument. Therefore, when playing, I used nervous vibrato and unproper bending, together with some detuning… and the result was drunken sounding, fiery stringed experimental instrument – Drunkeytar. Sounds of a burning wood gave it calming, meditative atmosphere. What´s in ? Cinematic Tension FX 2: Bass Clarinets is a unique new woodwind library that offers original composed and orchestrated runs up, spills down, crescendo pushes, hits, textures and ambiences, phrase gestures and ostinatos of 8 bass clarinets. Included with the library is a pdf score of all the composed samples in case you would like to augment these sounds with a live woodwind section. We have attempted to make the interface as user-friendly as possible. To the left hand side is the ‘Output Screen’ which displays the currently played notation. One of the coolest features of CTFX2 is the morphing function. By using the modwheel it is possible to blend between forward and reversed versions of the sounds. By starting a phrases with a reversed sample and slowly dialling in the forward version it is possible to achieve moving textures and sound effects with ease. Combine this technique with the effects described below and the results are both unique and infinitely varied.

Mystichord came about as a result of the chance discovery of materials related to the exploration and investigation in the little known field of Empyrean Physics by the even littler known pioneer Dr. Milan Guertzig. Among the materials were several tapes of what purports to be actual recordings captured by Guertzig on his psychogenic voltaic accumulator a device apparently enabling him to pick up and amplify sounds and signals far beyond the realms of normal time and space to the extent he claimed he was even able to eavesdrop on the “other” side. Guertzig faded into obscurity, shunned by the scientific and spiritualist communities alike, and when fire destroyed the sanitorium where he had had his laboratory it was thought all his research went with it.

GRANULAT is our newest tool for cinematic sound design and rich, moving textures. It works by playing hundreds of small grains of audio and then shifting these in the sample range left or right. You can use the modwheel to alter that shift amount or use any of the 9 tables to quickly add complex movement to the built-in sounds. The great thing about this technique is that you can freeze a sound at any position in the waveform. This also allows for great manual noise and FX sweeps where you can determine the speed of the transition. GRANULAT comes with 250 cinematic instruments, ranging from hybrid strings, brass swells to acoustic bell-like textures and vocal atmospheres.
