Released by Sequential Circuits in 1978, Dave Smith’s five-voice analogue synthesizer brought polyphony, patch memory and hands-on control together in a way that reshaped how musicians wrote, recorded and performed with synthesis. Its status has only grown with time. The Prophet~5 remains a benchmark for analogue tone, musical immediacy and instrument design: a synthesizer whose reputation extends far beyond its original era. From Genesis to Radiohead, Madonna to Aphex Twin, the Prophet~5 sound has spanned genres and decades for its versatile and powerful sound. Some synths don’t just belong to moments; they create them. The Prophet~5 was one of those synths, and its story now continues in software form.

The Official Prophet~5
For the first-ever official Prophet~5 plugin, Sequential has collaborated with GForce Software to honour the sound, feel and character of the original instrument in software. It brings together Sequential’s place in the history of analogue synthesis with our long-standing experience in creating expressive, authentic virtual instruments. Across the Rev1, Rev2, and Rev3 character models, the Prophet~5 plugin delivers the tone, response, and musicality that made the original instrument so sought-after, from the warmth of the SSM designs to the punch and presence of the Curtis filter. All of the original hardware functionality has been included, giving you access to the tones, behaviours and performance character that made the Prophet~5 a fixture on some of the greatest recordings of all time.

The original 38 factory presets from 1978 are included, alongside an extensive, professionally designed modern library of over 420 patches.
