This is a truly unique release – we took a tiny little drum machine (with a big sound), sequenced it with FX and looped the results through a Roland Scooper, where the sounds were live-warped, bit crushed, reversed, pitched, re-quantized and filtered. All of this was captured on 1/4″ tape and transformed into a killer library of modern & weird (but highly useable) sounds and instruments. The result: clubby kicks, modern claps, punchy snaps, cosmic toms, synthy hi hats, Villalobos-style perc and tons of wonky FX hit. Clean one shots, dirty lo-fi drum kits, and fully tweakable chromatic keyboard instruments for Ableton, Kontakt, Logic, WAV & more.

What happens when you take a perfectly good instrument – one thats been around for hundreds of years – and completely rethink it? Many musicians have dug their hands into the piano, John Cage prepared it with bolts between the strings, others have strummed it or hit it with their hands, but one of the most ethereal and unorthodox techniques is that of bowed piano. First suggested by the composer Curtis Curtis-Smith in 1972, the technique uses flexible bows made from monofilament nylon fishing-line which are then coated in rosin. The nylon is threaded under the strings, and the performer can coax a sustained tone from the piano. Bowed piano has since been adopted and expanded upon by various other composers, including George Crumb and more extensively.

“Electronic” contains over 1100 drum and percussion synth samples. All samples were designed and recorded using analog processors, drum machines and an Intellijel Modular System. Routing these machines through modular components resulted in drum samples with unique FM textures. In addition, vintage machines like the TR909 were routed through a Manley Vari Mu compressor as well as various master bus compressors to create rich, punchy samples that will cut through any mix. Samples will work with any DAW. There are formatted kits for Ableton Live 9, Maschine and Kontakt 5. You will need this software to use the kits. If you don’t have any of the software listed, you can still easily use these samples with any DAW you use.
