There are PWMs, sawtooths and ramps in there with some detune. We added a hint of ‘iSaw’ from Techtron and a smattering of half speed ‘Tron creating a huge sound which was re-sampled into a composite. This was then thrown at the MLM ‘Lite’ GUI. With a few tweaks (replacing Cronk’s All-Pass filter with a lowpass filter, for example), it made some nice sounds and so Stringodyne came to being. It’s something of a ‘one trick pony’ in a way but there are mighty sounds to be had that are wide and expansive, capable of big and lush strings, smooth ‘Last Temptation Of Christ’ Peter Gabriel style Prophet 5 (through his Boss CE1 chorus) pads and drones, spacey Tomita sweeps and, with everything wide open, big, anthemic techno stabs, hits, pads and leadlines. And all this passes to a comprehensive effects section…
