Dojo is a sample based synth developed for Kontakt. It is inspired by the principles of Japanese martial arts, which are translated and applied to creative sound design. Dojo features 2 main instruments: the Kumite synth and the Kata synth. The Kumite synth is inspired to the concept of fighting an opponent in karate; it is characterized by an aggressive sound, based on mangled analog synths, spectral re-synthesis of organic sources, orchestral phrases, tempo-synced rhythms, plucks, deep cinematic impacts and percussions, textures and horns. The Kumite synth is based on a custom-scripted modulation engine to create punchy phrases, hybrid orchestral cues, pulses, dreamy arpeggios and deep underscore movements. The Kata synth is inspired to the concept of “pattern of movements” in karate. We have recorded cello, double bass, viola, violin, crystal baschet, orchestral woodwinds, metallophones, piano and keys, jetè and staccatos, designed organic sounds and much else. All of them can be morphed, filtered, distorted and animated via an XY pad, to create evocative melodies, evolving atmospheres, detailed textures and underscore sequences.

Tsugaru Shamisen, the second release in the Virtuoso Japanese Series, is now available as a Kontakt instrument library. Sonica Instruments has painstakingly recreated every aspect of the revered tsugaru shamisen — the stirring percussive sounds, the powerful playing techniques, and the blazing speed of hajiki picking — in a Kontakt instrument library. The Virtuoso Japanese Series’ Tsugaru Shamisen library is certain to enliven nearly every genre of music, from Japanese minyo folk songs to hard rock, jazz, contemporary classical music, and movie scores.

Midnight Grand Recorded in a spacious concert hall, this Steinway Model D Grand Piano features a layer of cotton between the hammers and strings, which imparts a delicate, cinematic sound. The felt piano sound has become a staple in every composer’s collection. While most felt pianos are uprights, recorded using their practice pedal, we’ve expanded this concept to a grand piano. After experimenting with different materials, we settled on a thin layer of cotton between the hammers and strings. This produces a richer, darker tone, and when recorded in a large concert hall, it creates a striking contrast to our other felted piano, Woodchester Piano, which was captured in a small, dry studio. Enhancing the library further, we’ve included 14 Atmosphere Layers—pads that seamlessly blend beneath the raw piano sound—along with a versatile set of controls. These elements are explored through eight carefully crafted snapshot presets, introduced in the latest update, that act as a great starting point when exploring darker music genres.
Woodchester Piano A beautifully expressive felted upright piano, recorded in a dry and intimate space to capture every nuance and detail — crafted in collaboration with composer James Everingham. Woodchester Piano is the debut release in our Signature Collection, a series of libraries created in collaboration with composers and musicians, each focusing on a distinct set of sounds from their palettes. This piano belongs to James Everingham, who played a key role in shaping the library into a key ingredient of his composing template. Every detail has been meticulously captured, from the softest dynamics to hammer and key noises, even down to the intimate creaks of the piano player, all of which can be controlled directly from the interface. Complementing these detailed controls are 11 Atmosphere Layers, designed by the Fracture Sounds team. These layers, crafted from processed raw samples and beyond, elevate the library into an inspiring and immersive instrument, an essential starting point for any composer or songwriter.
PHONETIC is an innovative vocal morphing engine for Native Instrument’s Kontakt 6. It draws on a wide selection of single and dual phonemes (ah, eh, ba, la, vv etc) as a basis for musical sound design. Although technically a sample library, the architecture and resulting sounds are more reminiscent of a synth. PHONETIC’s pulses, pads, keys and other sounds are not limited to the original performers’ ranges and are therefore playable across the entire keyboard range. Be prepared to be mesmerised by a smorgasbord of looping, whirling and gradually unfolding velvety soundscapes. PHONETIC is a syllable-based vocal morphing engine for Native Instrument’s Kontakt 6. It is loaded with 44 female and male vowel/consonant performances recorded across a broad range of pitches, arranged in three layers: Body, Loops and Air. The over 3000 total possible sound combinations can be sculpted into evolving pads, pulses, pad/pulse combinations, and also keys and riser sounds with the Shape, Morphing and Movement controls in the user interface. PHONETIC contains 125 presets, ranging from minimalism-inspired looping female single syllables, via gently evolving formant-filtered pad sounds, to gritty distorted riser sounds.
String Formations is a collection of long string textures and gestural effects that can extend the capabilities of traditional string libraries and inject a sense of nuance and humanity into your compositions. Comprising a small chamber ensemble made up of three violins, violas, and celli, this dynamic grouping is ideal for scoring at a smaller scale, or doubling and combining with a larger ensemble instrument to add movement to more traditionally static string libraries. Recorded in the large hall of The Nave, Studio 1, String Formations offers three mic perspectives that can help blend with other instruments. The close mic offers a great dry sound, whilst the middle conductor perspective and the far mics give a greater sense of the hall. The library extends the innovative programming we introduced with Smart Trills in Petrichor with our Chordal Textures patch. When smart mode is enabled within these articulations, playing chords will automatically trigger specific interval relationships, weaving a tapestry of texture within your composition. We have also provided 16 Atmospheric Layers created by processing the original raw samples. These can be used in conjunction with the main set of articulations, or in our Layer Blends engine to stretch the sonic capabilities of the library.
