Harmonic Tides is an aetherial sound-designed string library crafted from delicately resonant cello and double bass string harmonics. Harmonic Tides with the specific goal of making a uniquely expressive textural sound designed instrument ideal for film scoring. His goal was to create a custom scoring tool that could be just as expressive, versatile, and nuanced as a typical orchestral string library. It’s perfect for modern arrangements and film/game scores whenever lush swells and huge waves of intense feeling are called for. Harmonic Tides has two primary sound sources. The first is a shimmering, delicate and airy texture derived from layered celli harmonic glissandi. This patch is designed to add organic movement to music. Every key is sampled with four dynamic layers. The second sound source is a sharp, hollow sound derived from layered samples of bowing the after-length of strings on a double bass between the bridge and tailpiece. This sound is designed to add subtle tension and movement to music. Both articulation sets feature a wide chromatic and dynamic range, allowing them to be played expressively live with a keyboard or other midi controller.
Glacier Keys A distinctive sound, made possible by sampling. Glacier Keys delivers rich piano harmonics performed on a Steinway D, creating a shimmering, glass-like timbre that is entirely unique. A harmonic is created by gently touching a string in just the right place to mute the fundamental tone and allow the harmonic, an octave above, to resonate. Glacier Keys takes this concept, typically found in string libraries, and applies it to the Steinway Model D concert grand piano. Through the act of sampling this technique in detail, Glacier Keys allows you to perform harmonics as easily as you would a regular piano – something which would be impractical, if not impossible, to achieve in a live recording. This piano feels natural to play while delivering a glass-like timbre that’s truly unique. Along with these distinct raw sounds, Glacier Keys includes 11 Atmosphere Layers and a variety of microphone positions, offering quick ways to alter the piano’s perspective and tone. These features are explored through 11 snapshots curated by the Fracture Sounds team, providing a one-of-a-kind addition to any score.

The library can naturally be used on its own. But when combined with other titles from the Virtuoso Japanese Series — such as KOTO 13 Version 2, KOTO 17, or SHAKUHACHI — as well as orchestral instruments, KOTO 20 can complete a rich and broad ensemble. As a historical note, the 20-string koto was conceived by Keiko Nosaka in 1969. Initially, this koto was strung with 20 strings, but in later iterations, another string was added to make it a 21-string instrument.
