Alicias Keys v1.5.0 LiTE

This is a light version of the Alicia’s Keys piano library. The library is based on a very rare Yamaha C3 Neo Grand Piano, owned by Alicia Keys herself. The library has a quite warm and intimate sound. It sounds the best in the middle range of keys, but unfortunately has something weird going on with the release behaviour in the lower keys. It sounds great in Pop, R&B and Jazz contexts, but does a fine job in Cinematic pieces too. Since there was no update to the sample content, both the original v1.0.0 NKI as well as the v1.5.0 NKI are included in the release for convenience and backwards compatibility. The samples in the original release were in 24-bit 48kHz format. The samples were converted to 16-bit 44.1kHz and repacked into NKX containers. A null test results in a peak of -87dB, which won’t be audible at all. Also, after quite some testing, no issues were found with noise floor build-up when playing lots of notes. The conversion process takes the size down to 2.74GB from the original 6.98GB, which is a 61% reduction!

Evocative Flute Textures

LIMINAL: Winds is a library of closely recorded hand-crafted flutes – from a minuscule fife to a gargantuan Contra-Bass constructed out of 12 feet of industrial tubing. LIMINAL: Winds is playable using the full version of Kontakt 6.6.1. The library’s articulations are expressive and evolving, with the performer imparting character and movement into each sample. The flutes were miked in proximity to the embouchure hole, providing characteristic breath and intimacy into each sample. The library is well-suited to add unpredictability and creative imperfection. The LIMINAL range is not intended for fast passages or soaring melodies. Instead, you may see the libraries as collections of naturalistic pads – offering orchestral details not found in something derived from a synthetic source. They are wonderful for underscoring or ethereal soundscapes.

Eidolon: Haunted Piano

Eidolon is my take on what a Piano would sound like if a friendly ghost decided it was a good place to occupy. It’s a pad instrument created from mangling 2GB of sustained piano samples via all manner of audio destruction – time-stretching, infinite delays, giant reverbs, granular and modular resynthesis, vocoding… the list goes on. It’s perfect for quickly laying down dark atmospheres and tones, or for your next ambient or post rock piece.
