Quasar‘s focus is on electronic cinematic sounds, taking its inspiration from classic analogue synths and also cutting edge modern electronica. Dark, punchy basses and basslines; atmospheric, expressive leads and keys; powerful, dynamic drums and drumloops; deep, colourful pads and soundscapes; driving, kinetic arps and sequences. All these patches have extra fluidity and control programmed into the modwheel and the performance X/Y pads.

Zebra Gravastar: Dark Edition is a collection of 360 sounds for U-he’s Zebra2 and ZebraHZ synthesizers, aimed at cinematic scoring with a dark, organic edge. The bulk of this soundset was originally designed for composer Jason Graves to use for his amazing score for Ubisoft’s Far Cry: Primal. Jason’s brief for the project was hilariously simple: “Imagine synthesizers as played by cavemen.” So, Gravastar focuses on non-traditional synth sounds, inspired by more natural sonic character: wood, glass, rock, dirt, noise, distortion, resonance, light and fire. The soundset is full of deep rhythms, shadowy pulses and ethnic loops, as well as ghostly textures, tectonic bass and luminescent pads. These sounds are alive and breathing; growing and evolving.

This soundset is focused on evolution and energy; each patch featuring subtle and kinetic movement and life. Primarily designed to suit underscore style music, there is plenty within Luminae to suit the rigours of epic/trailer music or the soulfulness of ambient electronica. At times minimalist, at others agile and aggressive; Luminae delivers sparkling sequences, strong basslines, vigorous drum loops, voluptuous pads, febrile soundscapes, and fragile leads.

Beyond Dreams is a soundset with 100 patches for Zebra 2 from U-he. The soundset is aiming for composers and producers working in the film, game and library music industry, though of course it can be used in any other production. The overall tone of Beyond Dreams is slightly dark and a lot of patches have a gritty distorted feeling. Beside that there are also some fun and weird fx patches included. The sequence patches are a bit lighter in tone. Categories included are arps, bass, bass loops, fx, leads, pads, KY (key and plucked), soundscapes, percussion and the earlier mentioned sequences.

Synthesizer Workhorse with Stripes

Zebra is our wireless modular synthesizer. It combines many different types of synthesis with a powerful modulation engine. Imagine — you can create any additive, freehand or spline-based waveform you like, apply a vast selection of spectral effects, morph between those waves and send them through classic synth filters. Perhaps use that entire sound as modulator for an FM oscillator, or route it through a comb filter — the building block of physical modeling synthesis. All generator modules, all signal paths, all effects are stereo.
