With the MS-5, Behringer resurrects a vintage synthesizer at an affordable price. In the test, we‘ll see whether Behringer successfully ported the unique character of the now half-century-old Roland SH-5 into the modern age. In terms of sound, Behringer has really captured the character of the SH-5. The oscillators sound punchy, raw, and lively, and the Ring Modulator and filters have the organic sound of the original. Thanks to the creative routing options, the MS-5 is also sonically more flexible than many other vintage synthesizers. In particular, drones and FX sounds benefit from this.
